Give your students a fun activity while learning about percent proportions. For percent proportions relay rush, students work together in a group to fill in all the blanks on their relay paper.
How it works:
On the first line, there is a percent proportion problem written out with a blank in place of one of the numbers. (Such as 50% of ____ is 25.) I tell the students to write out the proportion, switching out the blank with an x, the of for a multiplication sign, and the is with an equals sign. (It would now become 50*x = 25.) The number that the first student fills in becomes one of the numbers in the next row. They hand the paper back to the next student and the relay continues. The first group that has all the correct answers wins!
This activity comes with four different relays to give your students a variety of problems to solve. If your students are first learning about percent proportions, each relay could take around 15-20 minutes.
