FUN FUN FUN!
Whether the students are learning percent of a number or practicing REDS (converting fractions to decimals/percents), students can use this activity.
The images are fractions I created but I included the instructions for you should you want to create some of your own. There does not have to be 16 images, but I chose the maximum.
Students can interact by choosing and explaining why they are choosing one of the vortexes, followed by dragging the image into the vortex and watching it get sucked in! If they are incorrect, the image will be spat out. Have them explain why.
Once all have been placed into the vortex, have the students convert the fractions into equivalent "percent fractions" where 100 is the denominator. Worksheets are included for both vortex activities.
Find the percent: When students are asked to find a percent in a given situation and set up a proportion, this activity helps to reinforce whether or not to solve using cross products or factors of 100.
Cross Products, proportions, percents , fraction equivalents, factors of 100.
