This is a GREAT project to help students see WHEN THEY WILL USE THE MATH they are learning. This project will also open their eyes to how things have changed over the past 50+ years and hopefully see where "the money goes".
This project evaluates the percent of change between common items such as houses, cars, common food items, and work salaries from 1950 to 2010. Students will use their findings to make a conjecture if they felt people had it "better off" in 1950 or now. Students will use percent of change, problem solving skills and creativity to present their findings.
My students really enjoyed this project and the information they found! Can easily be adapted to cross-curricular if studying American history and the"Golden Age" of America
