Students have to use a calculator to solve the question to find the matching answer. Some questions requiring students to work out percentage of a given amount such as 20% of $50 = $10
As well as questions asking students to work out the percentage off a given amount such as 30% off $20 = $14
Can be used:
Student can cut out each card then work out the correct answers and then glue it in their books.
Cut and laminate a set of cards per group. You can use different coloured card to separate the percentage ‘of’ and percentage ‘off’ or print them all on the same colour to make it more challenging. Then in their small group they work together to work out the answers (with a calculator or without). This could be a race as a class or just a fun activity.
Alternatively, you can use this as a plenary or warm up where each student is given one card and they have to find their pair. Students need to solve the percentage ‘of’ or ‘off’ before they can go and find their answer. When they find the person with the answer they double check to see if they’re correct.
