Description

Real Life Math Project. Use this Entrepreneurship and Economics unit to prepare your future entrepreneurs. Students will be entrepreneurs and will open and run their own business. They have to make many important decisions to have as much profit as possible.

Students can choose without analyzing and then see the different effects. More ambitious students may first consider options before making choices.

You can use this project as one large project or divide it into 2 parts (factory production & perfumes).

This project involves students working in teams to run a factory. They work on the project over an extended period of time – about a week and a half (7-8 lessons).

It gives your students the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills through meeting challenges, and solving real-world problems, and keeps students engaged.

What is wonderful about it?

They can work at their own pace and don't even realize they are learning.

Give students more control over their learning by letting them make their own decisions. Students will LOVE picking the items for their own factory. Every choice matters, so they need to make choices wisely to plan their profitable business. The team competition for the greatest profit leads the students to begin to analyze more and more, and calculate more and more what pays off better.

Students will:

-choose the items they want to produce

-check the requirements of their production lines and machines

-assign workers to types of production, and check their costs

-calculate the production costs for different production batches (changeover, material, and worker costs)

-sell their products

-check the perfume label and calculate the percent of each ingredient

-buy ingredients for their perfumes

-design the bottle of their perfume

-set a sale price and sell perfumes

-calculate their final profit

All numbers are the same as in the Run a Halloween Factory project. Only the theme is different.
