Looking for ways to teach about the percussion family? Doing a unit on the instruments of the orchestra and/or instrument families? I have found this slideshow very helpful in my own classroom. It includes:
*A title page
*A page asking students how percussion instruments create sound (the next page has the answer)
*An informational page about each of the following instruments: Tubular Bells, Snare Drum, Maracas, Marimba, Piano, and Timpani. Each page includes information and history about the instrument as well as a sound clip or link to a YouTube video showcasing that particular instrument.
*An informational page about percussion ensembles: includes history, information, and a link to video of a percussion ensemble
*A review slide, asking students how percussion instruments create sound, and which other percussion instruments they can think of.
*Directions (including suggestions for using YouTube.)
Note: This is a PDF, but can be viewed just like a Powerpoint by going to "view," then "full screen."
