Percy Jackson Lightning Thief is a novel study from the Percy Jackson series and is designed to be used in Guided Reading Centers, as a class novel study or for independent reading groups at students just right reading levels. Students will answer a variety of reading comprehension questions including making connections (text to self, text to real world and text to text), compare and contrast characters, make predictions and ask and answer questions about the book. A lot of text to text connections will be made with the Harry Potter Series. Students will also complete a checklist to self-evaluate how they are doing with various aspects of writing including their use of capitals, punctuation, use of class time and writing in complete sentences.
This unit combined with other Guided Reading Novel study units will help you create Guided Reading Groups with novels appropriate to the different reading levels in your class.
This unit includes:
- variety of questions for each chapter
- quick self-assessments on their writing
- memory game for the Greek Gods included in this novel
