PERFECT PAIRING #2
THE BLACK CAT AND WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY ESSAY? (over 15% DISCOUNT)
I teach these concepts in several of my courses.
These two units go especially well together. When students first attempt to write essays involving critical thinking and textual analysis they stumble in a myriad of ways, but I have discovered that there are certain issues that arise again and again. This unit combines my three biggest complaints with student papers: assertions, non sequiturs, and apostrophe misuse.
I begin the semester reviewing the common issues stated above, and then students do two assignments on “The Black Cat.” Both assignments may be done in groups or alone and both test their understanding of assertions, non sequiturs, and apostrophes, and their ability to write clearly and engage in critical thinking.
