This is a laboratory performance task designed for a 55-min class period. Students have to identify the limiting reactant and excess reactant in a series of reactions through observations alone. By preventing students from simply calculating the limiting reactant, it forces them to demonstrate understanding of what a limiting reactant actually is.
Document includes the student directions with background information, student response sheet (work in groups of 2-4), and grading rubric.
