Perimeter 3rd grade: Perimeter 3rd grade animated PowerPoint presentation TEKS 3.7B
| 3.7B | perimeter | polygon | regular polygon | irregular polygon | equal angles | equal sides | closed figure | 3rd grade | third grade |
This PowerPoint is fully animated and includes student participation. Students use marker boards or paper and pencil to respond to the practice problems.
Key concepts include:
* Visual definition of perimeter
* What is and is not a polygon
* Categorizing the attributes of a polygon
* Regular and irregular polygons
* Real world problems
* Understand markings to show same size side or same size angles
* Animated use of ruler, yardstick, and meter stick to measure sides of a polygon.
A two page practice sheet with answer key has been included to deepen student understanding.
This presentation includes the first part of TEK 3.7B and CCSS3.MD.D8 which involves determining the perimeter of both a regular and irregular polygon. It does not include finding the missing length. This first part of the standard fits well with the addition and subtraction unit and the missing length concept fits better with a measurement and geometry unit.
Please check the preview to get a short animated version. Play it on a device with PowerPoint software to be sure all animations work properly on your computer. I have included a 2003 and 2010 version in order to meet the needs of each customer.
