Description

Exploring Perimeter is a comprehensive resource for teaching perimeter concepts. It includes over 60 pages of ready-to-use printables, step-by-step lessons, and hands-on activities to use with grades 2 through 4. Because it includes a wide variety of materials for many levels, it's a great tool for differentiating instruction. The activities are aligned with CCSS 3rd and 4th grade measurement standards, but some activities can be used as early as 2nd grade. Please preview before purchasing to make sure this resource meets your needs.

Generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Show the data by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units-whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
Solve real world and mathematical problems involving perimeters of polygons, including finding the perimeter given the side lengths, finding an unknown side length, and exhibiting rectangles with the same perimeter and different areas or with the same area and different perimeters.
Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
