This product features 12 perimeter word problems on a 2x3 grid and a recording sheet to complete their work and record their answers.
In my own classroom, I have printed out 2 copies of the document. In class, pass out the cards to students. They walk around and find the other student who has the same card number as them. The pair sits down together and solves the problem on the recording sheet. Repeat and share when finished.
I have found that it turns somewhat monotonous word problem practice into an engaging, fun activity. It could also be used in a center for independent practice.

This activity is aligned with the 3rd Grade CC Objective:
CCSS.Math.Content.3.MD.D.8 Solve real world and mathematical problems involving perimeters of polygons, including finding the perimeter given the side lengths, finding an unknown side length, and exhibiting rectangles with the same perimeter and different areas or with the same area and different perimeters.
and the 4th Grade CC Objective:
CCSS.Math.Content.4.MD.A.3 Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
