Get your students working with building blocks to explore area and perimeter in a fun, hands-on way with this 3 bundle resource.
Each resource in the bundle includes:
•Minds-On Task – this open ended question can be used as a diagnostic, entrance slip, or a full group introduction to the measurement task. Students should have a variety of building blocks available to them so they can explore the answers to this task.
•12 Task Cards – these task cards make a great math station or partner activity. Students will stretch their brains as they try to manipulate the given blocks in different ways to answer the questions on each card for the given perimeter or area. Students can explore and work with the cards as a math center (students do not require building blocks to complete these cards, but I would recommend having them available for students so they can actually explore the concepts in a hands-on way). Including the recording sheet as a requirement for the students to complete allows for an easy formative assessment for you.
•Answer Page and Recording Page – students can self-check their answers during math stations, or you can use the page for more formal checks.
