There are 3 sets of 16 perimeter and area task cards with 2 accompanying stories per set. The second story makes the multiplication for finding the cost more challenging. These are multi-step problems that require them to find the perimeter of each shape and then calculate the cost for the materials needed.
For example: Farmer John is buying fence for $8 a yard to fix his animal pens. How much would each pen cost to fix?
The students need to:
1) find the perimeter of the pen
2) multiply that by the cost of the fence to get a total.
-The first set is the perimeter and area of squares and rectangles, second set is the perimeter and area of triangles and parallelograms, the third set is the perimeter and area of polygons.
I make an envelope center out of each set and then use as needed.
