Perimeter and Area become hands-on and engaging when you have the students use these math centers. This unit is hands-on and full of technology, which will have your class having fun and excited to practice area and perimeter. In this Perimeter and Area unit, students will solve real-word problems, use diagrams, and find missing sides.
If you are looking to start using more exciting technology (and maybe also impress your administrators) then my Aurasma-enhanced cards are a great way to get started. Each of the 12 cards is already enhanced with an aura I have created. Students scan the card using their smartphone or tablet, and it will play a video clip I recorded explaining how to solve the problem. Your students will be amazed to see a plain old task card turn into a video right before their eyes!

I used this unit with my class of 4th grade kids as we investigated Area and Perimeter - and they LOVED it! The kids were traveling all around the room with their rulers, iPads, tablets, and even my cell phone as they were all so excited to get hands-on with the technology opportunities in this unit.
I hope your class enjoys this unit, and learning about Area and Perimeter, as much as my class did!
