In this two-page activity, students analyze seven different element symbols as they appear on the Periodic Table. Students write the element name and state whether the element symbol comes from its English or Latin name. Students record the number of protons, electrons, and neutrons. They identify the atomic number and the atomic mass. Students then classify each element as a metal, non-metal, or noble gas (A reference statement is provided). I included clues for determining the mass and the number of neutrons. A two-page color-coated answer key is provided.
