The periodic table metamorphosis takes students from what is believed to be the origin of the periodic table of elements. Students are given resources that feed them with details that help them accomplish the task of creating a timeline for the periodic table of elements. The discussion questions enable students to reflect over the atomic structure, groups and periods. From this concept students are able to explain the shape of the periodic table. The activity can be adjusted to fit different grade level. Instructor can also use the answers for the timeline matching to prepare a powerpoint for whole class activity. At the end of this activity students should have:
Recognize that there are more than 100 elements and some have similar properties as shown on the Periodic Table of Elements.
