Product Description
Say “NO” to boring worksheets!

Note: This activity is very similar to my Periodic Table Puzzle Matching Review Set. I use both sets with my students. Be sure to check it out as well. A bundled set of these activities will be available soon!

Zany Matching Activities contain all the important review information that you may put on a worksheet- just none of the boredom! This activity can be done by individuals, pairs, or groups. All you need to do is print, laminate, and cut the pizzas apart so that students can connect each crust with a vocabulary word to the rest of the pizza which has the correct matching information.

There are several options for this type of activity. My favorite is the “no paper or pen” option. Students match the outside crust word or concept with the with the rest of the piece of pizza that has the appropriate information. I always ask students to put the information pieces in numerical order. Each information piece has a number. This makes it easy for you to check their work visually.

I check the matches starting with #1. When I get to a wrong answer I stop there and do not check the rest. I then tell them to keep working and I will come back by to check again. Students keep working until all are correct. While students are working I continue to walk around the room and check on progress.

Another option is to use the answer sheet provided. Students then use the matches that they put together to fill in the answer sheet.

If students are using answer sheets then you may want different students to have different answer keys. Sets B and C have different answer keys. You may also want to use set A on one day and then maybe set C for a review day before the test.

My favorite printing option is to print several copies of a black and white only set (set A, B, or C) on different colors of paper. Each group gets a different color set. This is great because if a piece gets dropped on the floor then you will know easily which bag to put it back in.

If you do not have color paper then you can print sets D, E, and F. This gives you three different color options (red, blue, and green). You may want to mark set numbers on the back of the pieces if you want to print more than three sets.

Topics covered in this activity include the following:

metal, nonmetal, metalloid, group, family, period, halogen, noble gas, alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, transition metal, atomic number, mass number, average atomic mass, periodic law, and hydrogen.

Be sure to print this document in landscape form.

Also make sure that you check out these other chemistry related matching activities:
