Product Description
Why is the symbol for gold "Au?" In this interactive PowerPoint presentation by PJ Creek, students will review the names and symbols of elements from the periodic table. The presentation begins with an explanation of the Latin names of the elements and their accompanying unexpected element symbols. After that, there are 50 questions in the presentation in which information is missing from an element's cell on the periodic table. For example, a "?" takes the place of the element symbol "Li" in the lithium cell on the periodic table. Students may write down or volunteer answers for the missing information in each cell. This presentation can be used as a lesson, flash cards, review game, or quiz. I use this presentation in my 8th grade Physical Science class, and the kids love it. For fun I will sometimes randomly scroll through the slides with the arrow buttons for a quick-answer competition review game.
