Periodic Table Trends Student Group Project

- PDF

Description
This project is designed to help your students review periodic table trends in small groups and create colorful posters for your classroom! Each student group will investigate a periodic table trend or a way elements are categorized and each will fill out a one page question page and color in their own unique poster. Please see my preview for more information! Due to the images in the resource, this is an uneditable PDF file.
There are 11 different categories/trends in all:
States of Matter
Metallic Character
Element Types
Electronegativity
Ionization Energy
Atomic Radius
Electron Affinity
Ionic Radius (within metals and nonmetals separately)
Electron Orbital Block Type
Reactivity (within metals and nonmetals separately)
Valence Electron Number
Some trends and categories are more difficult to decipher than others, so this project lends itself well to differentiation! You can assign students to groups and projects that appropriately challenge them.
Included are answer key poster pages with everything shaded/colored in, so your students can compare to an answer key if needed. Or you can hang these answer key posters up for your own classroom decoration!
An important note: the student report pages have very open-ended questions on them and there are no answer keys for these. Students are asked to give examples and evidence to support their answers on most questions.
