Let your Science students know that you think they're awesome!
You can very quickly and easily create a colorful bulletin board or wall display featuring all your students' names and initials in a personalized periodic table. Just type in their first and last names in one column of the included Excel document, and each student gets their own colorful, unique "element" on your display. Literally, all you have to do is type your class list, and hit print!
The Excel formulas will extract each first name and last name, along with each initial. They will all be placed in the proper cells for you, saving you lots of time. It will even auto-fit the name to each cell, so long student names won't exceed the given area.
For example, if you type in Mary Williams, a card with a large "Mw" and the name Mary Williams will be instantly created for you, with the initials, first name, and last name, all in the correct spots. You can include up to 100 student names. The format uses a capital letter followed by the lower case letter, so the initials resemeble the actual element symbols.
You can arrange the element cards however you would like, but I have included a recommended template that allows you to arrange the names to very closely resemble the actual periodic table of elements.
This is an Excel document, but I have locked all the cells, except for the ones in which you enter student names. That way, there's no fear of changing any formulas that are used to make each element card. If you want to change the font, which you can learn to do at this link, you can simply unlock the sheets with the password I have included, and use any font you would prefer.
