Product Description
This fun and engaging periodic table lab aligns with next generation science standards. MS PS1-A middle school structure and properties of matter. This hands on, interactive, and high level thinking activity / lesson was created for middle school and early high school students and is great practice to help students to understand the concept of the periodic table, how it is arranged, and how to read and understand the table. This is an extremely popular lesson in my classroom! Students analyze common features of cartoon aliens and explore how the common and varying features align with the regular patterns seen on the periodic table. Highly engaging, high level thinking activity / lab. Includes “I will” and “We will” daily goals that teachers may post. “I will” and “we will” goal statements are aligned with the fundamental five method of teaching, but will work for any teacher who posts daily class goals or just wants to impress any administrators who walk through their classrooms! Concepts covered include atomic number, element names and symbols, periods, groups, and the organization of the periodic table. High level thinking strategies and practice differentiate for different learning styles. Includes an additional higher-level activity geared for advanced classes or any class that works quickly and needs additional work. Teacher key with all answers and a printable periodic table for student use is included at no additional cost! Lesson is perfect for classrooms that utilize interactive notebooks, but will be a great stand alone lab for any classroom that covers the periodic table. Approximately one to two class periods in length. As a reference I teach a 50 minute class period. Created by Mister Science
