Persepolis: 9 Anytime Activities
In this packet you’ll find nine activities you could use to complement a unit on Persepolis. The “Leave a Message” activity is for partners, and works best in class. Every other activity could be done alone or in partners, in or out of class.
Snapchat: In this activity, students create a short Snapchat exchange between two characters, sketching in photos and text in the squares provided and then explaining their choices.
Values in Conflict: This handout invites students to consider what is important to Marji at three different stages in her life, and compare these values to those of her government.
Facebook Profile: Students create the young Satrapi’s Facebook page.
Graphic Mini-Memoir: For this activity, students create three graphic panels in their own style about an event in their own lives.
Tweets: Students write tweets from Satrapi’s perspective, discussing recent events in the book.
Yearbook Page: Students create a yearbook page for Marjane Satrapi.
Pen Pal: Students write letters from Satrapi to a student at their school
Leave a Message: In this partner activity, students discuss what message some character would choose to leave on Satrapi’s voicemail, based on recent events in the text.
Ipod Playlist: Students simply choose four songs that Marji might have chosen to listen to during recent events in the text, and explain their choices.
This packet contains adapted versions of some of my other products. You will find similar material or activity formatting in it if you have already purchased my Yearbook Activity or 15 Discussion Sparks. The Into the Wild Unit Activities, Harry Potter Unit Activities, The Hunger Games Unit Activities and The Hobbit Unit Activities are also adapted versions of some similar activities. I am trying to cater to teachers who would like my more generally formatted products specially tailored to individual novels, but please don't accidentally purchase two of a very similar product. Thanks!
