As a natural lover of literacy, I am always looking for ways to engage my students in the craft of writing and "word-collecting". I try to share my love for words with them and to teach them that their own words are powerful. That being said, my students know that as readers, spellers, authors, writers, etc. we are always collecting words and strengthening our craft. This is the perfect tool to help us to do that!
The words in this product include all of Fry's first and second one hundred words organized by the first letter of each word, as well as add-on word page options. The core part of the dictionary, or word book, has four main options: all black text, red-vowel page backgrounds, red-vowel headings, and where all the words/headings have red vowels. The file also includes many different front/back cover options and additional word options such as color words, number words, calendar words, a reference alphabet, holidays, subject pages, blank pages, spelling strategies, etc. (See product preview images.) There are written directions, various option explanations, product ideas, and a table of contents for easy assembly/use!
This resource can be used as a personal dictionary in students' writing folders, a way to keep track of learned/new sight or vocab. words, kept in their book boxes to use independently during workshop/stations, and so much more.
