Personal Finance- What Would You Do with a Million Dollars?
In this quick writing activity, students respond to a scenario in which they are left a check for a million dollars from a generous grandmother. Students need to explain in full detail. This is a great activity to do at the start of a personal finance course. It is interesting to see what students will respond with prior to learning about the importance of saving and investing your money. A lot of students might want to spend the money on lavish vacations and things they don't really need. This activity will lead to same great class discussions about what they should really be doing with the money like paying off debts- credit cards, car loans; starting an emergency fund; putting money aside to pay for college or pay off college debt, types of savings accounts to put money into; types of investments to put money into, etc. Again, great way to start a Personal Finance course. A very detailed teacher key is provided.
