Each term I work with my students to help them set goals for their learning. This term we are learning about organisation and have done an initial survey about their personal organisation habits. From this list, they will choose one aspect of organisation to set as a personal goal for the term.
I will also ask them to choose one very specific learning or learning behaviours goal to also choose for the term, such as: learning my 6x tables off by heart, or remembering to cross check when I read.
I am then getting them to record their 2 goals on a desk label, to be a constant reminder at school that they are working toward these 2 goals. I've also made this little diary note to send home to parents, to inform them of each child's 2 goals for the term. I'm going to suggest they stick them to their homework/study table or the fridge at home, to be a constant reminder for the whole family, so everyone can help support them in their growth and learning.
I've included a colour A4 page which has 4 small parent notes and a black and white copy. I hope you can also use them to help inspire learnings to be self-regulated and independent in their quest for learning.
