Parts of the Dictionary

The given definition provides an easy to understand explanation of the concept. The student will have an accurate definition at their fingertips without having to worry about issues of writing, spelling, or legibility.

On the back of each card there is a space to include an ‘in your own words’ definition, which encourages students to think more deeply about the concept and create a definition in language that they understand.

There is also a space for examples. These examples should be generated by the student. The creation of an example requires that the student understand the concept and also leaves them with a concrete example that they understand to refer back to. There is a place for two examples so that while the initial one may be created with the assistance of the teacher, the second will be entirely the students creation.
