Getting students to write presents many challenges. This resource helps guide students in building a personal narrative.
Students begin by planning. In this planning guide they think of a big topic and narrow it down to a smaller idea. Then they write descriptions of that small idea. The guide then encourages students to find places in their description that they can expand on. Students will edit by adding vivid details, showing emotion, and including dialogue.
Then students can build upon their planning to create a rough draft. After a final edit, they will be ready to publish.
