This is an approach to a personal narrative, autobiography.
The graphic organizer will help students gather personal information with examples while working in character traits.
Note from the seller:
As I was preparing my lessons this week, I realized that there are many biographies and very few autobiographies. Even though we have written a similar paper like this one at the first of school, I went back and added places for more details and included character traits. The goal for this writing piece is to guide students to be more thought provoking in their quest of writing.
This should be a relatively easy paper for them to write. There is a lead paragraph that sets up their autobiography and closing to cap off the most important thing about themselves.
Teaching writing has never been easy for me. When students ask questions about what they need to write, giving examples did more leading of their writing, than them discovering thinking through the writing process. I’m trying a new approach by using two processing questions that a team member shared with me. Why? And How? Students will learn to give support to their writing through examples.
After completing their autobiography, working through the writing process, students will create
themselves with construction paper to place behind their favorite colored paper to display their writing.
