It's so frustrating when you conference with students after a fantastic mini-lesson and you see no evidence of them applying the learning, isn't it? This product, by Wild Child Designs, motivates students to do just that. It includes 16 colored brag tags that detail SPECIFIC WRITING TARGETS for writing personal narratives. It also includes a poster for display so students know the tags they are trying to earn. A "Teacher Notes" sheet is included with tips and ideas about using these tags in your classroom.
I use this product to motivate my writers to try the things I am teaching them in my writer’s workshop personal narrative mini-lessons. When they take the risk and try the new learning, I reward them with a corresponding brag tag. Much like collecting Pokemon or baseball cards, my student LOVE earning these tags.
I award them during writing conferences and small group strategy lessons…whenever I see evidence of them applying the teaching points. These also help students set writing goals for themselves!
