This is a teacher's dream for brainstorming, drafting and writing personal narratives with middle school students! I have struggled for several years, but using this guide has helped students of all abilities successfully write a personal narrative they are proud to read aloud to the class. This guide includes:
1. drafting ideas (students draft several incidents and what they learned from each incident, then they share with a partner and select the incident they wish to focus on)
2. brainstorming plot (broken down into elemnts such as setting, sensory details, beginning, middle, end and reflection)
3. brainstorming hooks (students brainstorm at LEAST 4 possible hooks and then trade with a partner and select their ideal hook)
4. a check list of what to include for each paragraph as they write (this checklist is located on the right side of each paragraph so students can use it as they write)
I also have a personal narrative cheat sheet for sale on my page if your students need additional help!
