Here is an effective and active way to give students practice for writing intros for personal narratives before they dive into their own writing.
Students will read multiple mentor texts of personal narrative climax paragraphs and get a chance to label them while hunting for great examples of authors facing and facing the problem/challenge in their stories. Students will also be hunting for and labeling examples of inner thinking and sensory details.
Students will also be given two prompts practice writing climax paragraphs for two example personal narrative ideas, with an opportunity to label their own work.
