- Lesson plan aligned to the common core standards.
- Sample Narrative Assessment
- Graphic Organizer
- Final Draft Sheet
I taught the lesson as a two day sequence. For my kids, this was the first experience they had with personal narratives.
On the first day, we reviewed the characteristics of a personal narrative and practiced identifying main idea and supporting details using a PowerPoint I created. (also available on TpT) The assessment for the day had the kids read a sample narrative and identify main idea and the supporting details in the narrative.
The second day, we completed our personal narratives about loosing a tooth. The kids filled out a graphic organizer to help them sort out their ideas. Then, they transferred their ideas onto a final draft sheet. At the bottom, they made their mouth out of construction paper and marshmallows. (of course they got to eat the leftovers)
***PS*** I had to upload the file as a PDF. TpT was being suborn and would not take the Word file. If you buy the plan, and would like a copy in Word format, send me a message and I will get you a copy you can modify.
