EVERY lesson has a teacher guide (some with videos and other links to follow) AND a printable student guide for students to keep in their writing notebooks as a reference/model.
These mini lessons help students strengthen their personal narrative skills. They can be used for whole group, but I found success using them for small-group lessons where students examine what they need to work on and "sign up" to participate in the small group lesson. The lessons are designed to be 10-15 minutes and give students exemplar models of certain skills needed for a strong personal narrative. See preview for directions, how this is used and examples of the mini lessons that are included.
Many resources used are common ones found on the internet. I put many links to other sites for texts, as to not infringe on copyright laws. If you need help finding anything, please feel free to message me and I will help you!
My sixth graders did WONDERFUL at this (in small groups). After every mini lessons, I had a volunteer model how they would alter their story with the new information they learned. Students did AWESOME. Also, all of this is aligned with the Common Core writing standards. Each student leaves a mini lesson with a resource guide they can later refer back to. Also, if you have a para or helper, they can easily implement any lesson with the help of the teacher guide provided for each mini lesson!
