I called this my "Three-Angled Snapshot" assignment. This project requires students to begin by writing a personal narrative about an emotional moment in their life. Then, they re-write the same moment as a narrative poem (utilizing lines, stanzas, literary devices, etc.). THEN, they change it again into a lyric poem, just isolating the feelings and emotions from the moment. It's a unique opportunity for students to see one moment transformed in three different forms of writing.
