First, students start by creating a timeline of their narrative.
Students can draw or write in each box.
Glue the two timeline papers together or on construction paper.
Use the timeline as your plan to write the narrative.
Unit included 5 narrative writing pages (Introduction, 3 paragraphs, and a conclusion).
Beside each paragraph is a brief tip list to include.
After, student glue all the pieces together to make a final essay.
This truly helps students SEE how each paragraph can stand alone, yet be an integral part of narrative essay.
Bonus: Title/Checklist page and illustration page.
NOTE: I used this as a center for almost two weeks. First, children worked on the timeline. After, they worked on a paragraph each day. I hung these in the hallway for parent night. This is a truly engaging unit that puts all the pieces of good narrative writing together!
