This is a writer's workshop writing journal that can be three hole punched or bound for your students. This is a 52 page document that will guide students from collecting ideas to publishing their final drafts. Different from other writing notebooks this one focuses specifically on writing narrative pieces. The gathering of ideas pages and mini-lessons are specific for meeting the CCSS of the narrative genre.
The lesson pages were created after reading books from the masters of writer's workshop: Nancy Atwell, Lucy Calkins, Regie Routman, Barry Lane, and Carl Anderson.
It meets CCSS for grades 2-5 and is listed in the product. Here is a
sample of CCSS met for grade 3:
Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences.
Establish a situation and introduce a narrator and/or characters; organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally.
Use dialogue and descriptions of actions, thoughts, and feelings to develop experiences and events or show the response of characters to situations.
Use temporal words and phrases to signal event order.
Provide a sense of closure.
