It is important to teach children that there are boundaries in life that must always be respected. One boundary that children must learn about is personal space. Personal space is an important social skill that should be taught from the time children are young. Learning the skill allows children to improve their relationships with their family, friends, and classmates. Are You Buggin’ is a fun game that allows students to discuss situations that calls for them to pay attention to how they may invade someone else’s personal space. Are You Buggin' also includes a lesson plan with ASCA Mindset and Behaviors and a follow up decoding activity for students to complete independently.
How to Play:
1. Divide class into two teams.
2. Give each team leader an “Are You Buggin” game strip.
3. Place “Are You Buggin’” cards and “You Buggin’” game chips on a flat surface at the front of the class.
4. Team members will take turns flipping a card and responding to what is posted on their card. If they pick a “You Buggin’” card they have to pick up a “You Buggin’” game chip and put it on their team’s game strip. The first team to fill up their team’s card LOSES.
Black and white copy included.
