I made this for my students so they can use it as a reference on how to spell words while writing. They write word wall words, names of other students, names of family members, and also to add whatever word they repetitively ask how to spell. As they continue to use the words, they learn how to spell them. It is best to run just the first page by itself then all the other pages front to back. I hole punch them and put them in a pocket folder with brads. This makes it easier to add blank pages (the ones without alphabet letter on it) as sections fill up. My students become more proficient at spelling and more independent during writing time.
When they ask me how to spell a word that is not phonetically able to be spelled, I write it on an index card or post it note. Then, they are to transfer that word into their personal spelling dictionaries.
