Product Description

This activity is a great way for students to get to know each other based on their preferences and personality. They take a close look at what makes us unique as and how to better understand each other's strengths and weaknesses. Students can identify those who they have preferences and personality traits in common with, and those who are opposite. Most importantly, students learn that having a variety or stregths and weaknesses in team members can actually strengthen a team, or a group of students because they can built on each other. How boring would life be if everyone liked the same flavor of ice cream? By gathering this information early in the term, students and teachers alike, can identify the most efficient and effective ways to engage and communicate with each other.

I recommend this activity for back to school, get to know you, and for a grouping activity. After students complete the self assessment, they are grouped into one of four "Fruit Factors." From that point on, it is easy for the teacher to reference them by fruit, "Apples, please get your folders first." Easy!

This product is delivered in three PDF files. The first has the cover page, a table of contents, the student assessment in two versions, the student worksheets, and the teacher guide which explains how to use this activity and how to use the worksheets for student reflection and writing. Activities are provided that can be used in small groups or individually. This activity can be simplified to take 20 minutes, or the group and individual activities can be executed to take up to 90 minutes or more.
