Personalized learning is the biggest BUZZ word in education at the moment, but there are very few resources out there that give administrators, curriculum leaders, and innovative teachers a 'step-by'step' approach of how to take what is already happening in the classroom and repackage this learning in a way that is personalized for students.

This resource is a unique and revolutionary framework for the implementation of a personalized learning unit at the elementary age range. It can be applied to any sized school and any unit that teachers are already using. The cost is high as you are paying for the concept and the invention and also a complete step-by-step approach on how to implement personalized learning into a subject, grade level, or across a school.

Personalized Learning in the Early Years (PLEY) is a model that can be used to structure a more personalized learning experience for students in grades 1-4.

A student would first complete a unit pre-assessment (diagnostic tool) to determine his/her individualized entry point and the learning targets needed to master a competency or overarching theme of a unit (e.g. Information Writing), resulting in a customized learning pathway. The PLEY model creates a framework for students so they can show initiative and independently organize themselves around their learning pathway (learner-directed), choose how they want to demonstrate what they know and are able to do (learner-selected), proceed through their customized learning pathway at their own readiness rate (learner-paced), and build or maintain relationships with peers (learner-connected).

The PLEY model uses ELA as a mentor unit, but this principle can be easily applied to Math, Science, Social Studies or any other subject area. Moreover, it can easily be applied to the creation of any interdisciplinary unit.

WARNING - This is NOT a 'plug and play' resource similar to many on TpT. This resource teaches you how to take your present units of study and repackage them into a personalized learning approach.

This unit also uses the free version of the best education tool on the website, the 'Seesaw' app to help with workflow. This unit also works best where students have access to ipads. At least 1:5 or 1:2. Teachers can still implement the unit through a pencil and paper approach if technology is not readily available in the classroom.
