Teach your students about personification by having them match up these shuffled pairs of phrases. Phrases include "the wind / kicked loose the door" and "the flower / bowed its head." In groups of 2-3, students can try to match up these nouns and their personified verb phrases. This is a great activity for EFL / ESL / ELL students, since much discussion is required during the matching, and students will learn new vocabulary words. Even if students don't match the phrases "correctly," the value will be in the discussion it takes for them to arrive at a match! As an extra lesson, you can highlight the convention of nouns and verb phrases. Copy this sheet, cut out the squares, shuffle, and put in an envelope for each small group.
