Students will practice and apply simile, metaphor, and personification examples found in the novel, I Survived the Nazi Invasion, 1944 by Lauren Tarshis. Answer Key included.
The first activity asks students to sort personification, simile, and metaphor excerpts from the text, and glue them into the appropriate columns.
The second activity asks students to choose one personification and one simile/metaphor from the first activity, explain them and illustrate the meanings.
This Common Core-aligned product could be used by any student who needs practice with figurative language. Students do not have to know the novel to complete the activities.
If you are using this product in conjunction with the novel, I suggest waiting until students have finished the book so there aren’t any spoilers!
