History is a story of past events. But, like all stories, it is often up to the interpretation of the reader. We draw conclusions from evidence in order to piece together the most accurate picture of what actually occured. However, we are usually guilty of only looking at history from one perspective or viewpoint. This is a 10-slide PowerPoint that focuses on understanding historical perspective using photographs. It also addresses primary and secondary sources and how they are different and provide evidence for past events. This PowerPoint is meant to be used less for actual note taking and more for discussion purposes. Each slide contains notes for the teacher to help guide the discussion and provide questions to ask. Included in those notes are activities for the students to complete during the discussion to engage them and cause them to think on their own. This is perfect for high school level classes, but it can also be used in the middle grades. Enjoy!
