Product Description
I use a lot of music in my classroom to teach literary devices and point of view. The two songs that I've chosen here represent two VERY different perspectives on war, written just after the US went into Afghanistan and Iraq.

Students are asked to look for literary devices, contrast the two pieces, then write about how the writers create their unique voices.

My students who were hard to reach really responded to this assignment! We had some great follow up discussions on war, the impact that actors/singers have had on politics, and on writing with powerful voice.

*The original songs each use a curse word, but I've censored them out here. The Linkin Park song is available censored from iTunes, but Toby Keith's is not. (His word is "ass"...some students/ parents could care less about that word.)*

As always, if you like the product, please leave positive feedback and be sure to check out my other items!
