Graphic organizers (with 3 levels of prompts) for writing or speaking a persuasive argument
Supports Common Core Writing Standard 1, Speaking/Listening Standard 4
How to use:
Student or teacher choose an argument to defend from the 5 choices:
Kids should have not have homework every day.
School should end at noon every day.
The cafeteria should serve pizza every day.
Kids should wear uniforms to school.
All families should have a pet.
Teacher determines the level of prompts needed:
High level = fill in the blank, sentence frames, vocabulary suggestions, conjunction suggestions
Moderate level = structured layout, topic sentence starters, vocabulary suggestions, conjunction suggestions
Low level = basic graphic organizer only
Use the completed graphic organizer to write a persuasive essay or speak a persuasive argument.
Note: different students can work on the same topic with different levels of prompts making this an ideal activity for a group with a variety of writing/speaking levels.
