This 4-page set of picture notes allows students to take notes on the definitions of the following terms:
The definitions students will use for these terms appear on the accommodated versions (2 of the 4 pages).
Standard version: 2 pages with lines to fill in the definition for each term, and an example for each term. Key terms have a picture next to the definition space in order to help students remember/visualize how the term works.
Accommodated version: 2 pages with full definitions already printed, but students need to fill in the term itself. This allows for students with exceptional learning needs to work at their own pace alongside standard students, making it so they do not have to rush or feel pressured as a slower writer. Key terms have a picture next to the definition space in order to help students remember/visualize how the term works.
Provide the definitions to students in your usual manner, but give your students a fun way to take notes instead of boring old lined paper!
For a fun activity to reinforce these definitions, see my listing "Analysis of Infomercials for Persuasive Rhetoric and Rhetorical Devices." (bit.ly/2Ehu570)
For a rigorous and creative summative assessment to check for understanding of these terms, see my listing "Creative Writing Response: Persuasion, Rhetorical Appeals, & Rhetorical Devices." (bit.ly/2EU3P3Q)
These notes, and the two additional resources listed above, make an awesome 2+ week unit on the art of persuasion!
