Product Description
This powerpoint covers writers, speakers, and thinkers who shaped the American Revolution. Additionally, it introduces students to the essentials of persuasive writing, including counterargument, claims, the rhetorical triangle, and call to action. A close reading guide is provided for annotating persuasive writing as well as a 3 step writer's workshop for drafting a piece of persuasive writing using an outside source.

This mini unit is best taught as a part of a larger persuasive writing unit OR during an American Literature curriculum's "American Revolution"/Late 1700s unit. Pairs well with Patrick Henry's "Speech in the Virginia Convention" or other pieces of persuasive writing/speaking from the colonial era.
