Persuasive/ Opinion Writing can be a difficult concept for students to grasp. I created this reflection sheet so that students would have the opportunity to critique and look analytically at their own writing and their peers writing.
In my classroom I love to have the students write a persuasive essay with the thought that someone other than my teacher is going to be reading this. Having an actual audience is a real motivator in writing. Students will complete their essay I prefer the students to keep their name off of the essay to prevent any bias on the reflection sheet. Students will each receive one of their peers essays and this response sheet. They are to read their classmate's essay and fill out the questions in response to persuasive essay.
The essay and reflection sheet are then returned to the original owner to read through and reflect on the suggestions given.
This is a wonderful tool because the student becomes the teacher and must look for the things I look for when grading. By knowing these things and looking for these things in someone's writing students are much more likely to apply those critiques and suggestions to their own writing.
Let me know if you need anything added or changed! As always thank you for your feedback!! I love to hear what you think and how you were able to use the products in your own classroom.
