Students will be working in small groups to advocate for one side of a controversial drug topic. Before working on the assignment students will determine their personal views on the listed topics. Students then will create a presentation about their drug topic. Each group will present their side of the argument to the class. After the presentations, students will re-evaluate their views on each topic after hearing arguments from both sides. They will also reflect on the presentations and their personal views.

I usually will poll the students, have them choose their top 5 topics, and then create the groups for them, so it will be even. If you let them choose, then you may have topics that aren't fully covered.
